No, the valve engine only supports a limited number of options in a single menu and they must be indexed by digits.

The sound is getting played when the player in question joins, BEFORE they are actually in-game and before they spawn. It should be changed to play the sound when the player spawns for the 1st time...

If it always tries to download the sounds every time, that means that it has not successfully downloaded them.

The version I have been using with TF2 has worked without any issues for quite some time. I think it is posted somewhere earlier, but I will post it again here. It should also work with other mods....

This works a little differently for tf2, since it is based on the "orangebox" engine the directory structure is different.

I added support for TF2. I also added the ability to assign each melee kill (weapon) it's own sound.
