This statement makes no sense as 1.8.3 is also an unstable build. In fact, it's much more unstable and has a lot more issues that the latest 1.9 or even 1.10 build.

1.8.3 is just an older 1.9...

1.9 is currently much more stable than 1.8.2 and offers tons of new features and bugfixes. It's just a matter of time when the devs will find some free time to make it the current official version....
