That's because it's not declared at the theme code by the author. It should appear something like "/archive/index.php" but it doesn't. I think he forgot to add it, but you can just edit it to implement that you mean.
If you wanna edit the code for make that section look dark, you can look at how the Archive CSS File is designed. Here's the link to see it:

Edit: Now im looking that there's other section missing that is called "showpost.php", so i would consider that this theme is not fully dark. But you can fix that looking at that section CSS stylesheet too.
