I'm not sure. I know Valve made some changes in the Orange Box engine that makes this not necessary, but CS:GO isn't an Orange Box game.

I have tested it on CS:GO and it is working for me.

With ncp_detectiontime set to 60, and ncp_detections set to 3, I was kicked from my test server when I had changed my steam profile name for the 3rd time within 60 seconds.

Interesting that the Steam client does have its own throttler built-in - I got a pop-up with a "ding" from the steam client telling me I was changing my name too frequently while I was testing this. So I wonder how people doing the various exploits are circumventing that. Or maybe the throttler is a new feature of the Steam client. *SHRUG* (I don't change my player name a lot)

Anyway, seems to be working OK for CS:GO.

I just put this on my CS:GO server. I've had mutiple hackers come into using a name change hack. Either they haven't blocked it in CS:GO or they've found away around it.

We've been having a lot of hackers on our TF2 server lately who've been using name-changing to make it harder for admins to kick/ban them.

I'll give this a try.

There's a built-in cvar, but I don't remember what it's called.

sv_namechange_cooldown_seconds

We use 120, gives enough time to find and ban the person usually, even if I'm doing the banning from my phone .
