Zombie Panic: Source! A Source 2007 mod.


Timeframe:

1 month preferred, flexible.


Objectives:

A) Provide functional player bots for Zombie Panic: Source! Survivors could shoot these generated bots during low population times. Note: ZP:S does not have a bot system by default.


Background:

The Orangebox Botmaster was stripped out by the developers. However, another community has figured out a way of implementing bot function of some kind back into the game. Players who join this IP: 178.32.57.35:27018 can play alone with a full server of bots.


How the System Should Work:

A) Server crashes/reboots.

B) Plugin detects player count 0-17. Inserts bot player (BP) with randomized name chosen from a server list of names.

C) 20 Seconds pass, plugin detects player count 0-17, inserts second BP.

D) 15 Seconds pass, plugin detects player count 0-17, inserts third BP.

E) 30 Seconds pass, plugin detects player count 0-17, inserts fourth BP.

F) 3 minutes pass, plugin signals the server that a bot achieves a player kill.

G) The plugin continues to add kills to players every couple minutes.

H) A real player joins the game. The plugin selects zombie for bots when the player chooses a team.

I) The bots spawn in. Bot A.I. does not have to be perfect but should be basic. For example: the bots choose a random direction and walk, flailing their arms. If the bots run into an object, a new random direction is chosen, or after a time, a random direction is chosen and the bot changes direction. If the bots have line-of-sight to a survivor, they head in their direction.

J) If the plugin detects 8 or more real players, it removes a BP.

K) If the plugin detects 12 or more players, it removes a BP.

L) If the plugin detects 16 or more players, it removes a BP.

M) If the plugin detects 19 or more players, it removes a BP.

N) If the plugin detects numbers below the above, it will restore BP players.

The second one is illegal. Against valve's policy of truth. Wont get any help from here, this isn't gmod.
Most of what you asked for about the bots already exists in the game, exactly how you defined it.
As far as controlling the bots, it would be pretty difficult to do that
might as well do sm_cvar bot_zombie 1 to disable attacking, etc.

I've edited the job description to be a bit more clear. Nothing we've tried works properly for Zombie Panic.

I imagine the difficult part would be getting serviceable bots without pathing.

Without navs and linkage to navs, best you are going to get is point, shoot, and follow.
Also, asking for the source to be provided for a potentially lenthy/time consuming project upfront without pay for 48 hours is far from reasonable. Nowhere in the programming/art/backwater-gator-skinning industry are you going to see someone complete a project ahead of time, give it to you, and then take payment at a later date. You're thinking in reverse.

The binary cannot be provided without source regardless, as an upfront arrangement or otherwise.

You could however host yourself without conveying any files directly as a means to test and show functionality.

Yes, this is reasonable to show proof of function
.. I was not advocating sending binaries, I refuse to even provide binaries.

Most people will pay upfront, do a 50/50, or pay upon delivery.

I feel like this thread has shifted away from its original purpose, which is to attract coders interested in a paid challange.
