I need some sound effects for the mod im writing, how can I make them?

Depends on how you want the sound to be played. Do you want it played as if it was coming from a player (only those near will hear)?

No, im not talking about emit_sound or anything, im talking about actually making the .wav file.

Every "big" mike should suffice, even the cheap ones.

You should however be familiar with sound editing, formats, what khz are etc. I mainly use 22khz 8bit wav's. However I would use 16 bits on footsteps for example, loud sounds like gun shot or explosions.

search for wavs on the net and manipulate them if you need to with something like soundforge or wavelab or a sound file editor thats free or cheap. If you have a sound editor you can rip sounds from anything you like, movies, songs etc. Then manipulate them.
