Hi,

Recently I have installed the sourcebans plugin, but I cant connect it to mysql server (which is a diferrent one)...I have contacted my webhost and aske them to open the UDP outgoing ports and TCP incoming ports for all the game servers, but it continue giving me this error

L 10/03/2011 - 21:59:05: [sourcebans.smx] Database failure: [2003]: Can't connect to MySQL server on '206.217.136.242' (10060). See FAQ: http://www.sourcebans.net/node/20

I have looked the FAQ but it doesn't give me a solution, because I hace already registered both IP's (the webhost and gamehost) and still nothing...the other solution I can't do it, it gives me an error...so...any other thing I'm being doing wrong?

Should I ask to my game host to open any ports???

By the way, I have tested the connection using sb_debug_connection.php and it shows that everything is allright...so...I don't know what I should be doing wrong

did you add 206.217.136.242 to the remote access on your web space so it can access the database??
Are you using cPanel? If so click on Remote MySQL and add that IP above that shows in your errors

Ask your game host if they allow external DB connections...some do not (complete BS on there end )

Also make sure that your web host // Mysql host is allowing external connections on there firewalls

The ip it shows is from the webhost...I have entered that to the cPanel at the "Remote access MySQL" (something like that) option, but still give me that error.
The hardest part would be to contact to my game host, because it takes days to response.

Another thing....I have installed the plugins from SRCDS_Hardening, any of them will block the connection? (D-Fens, Rcon locker, DAF, floodcheck).

I have tested a connection from my computer to the webhost SQL, but it also gives me the error...even with using the remote access option....where can I check the firewall in the cPanel....After many tries and reading...I manage to connect to MySQL from my house PC, but...I used Standard TCP/IP over SSH, which worked...using the cPanel login...is there a way to use that connection with sourcebans? Because after many stressful days I don't know what else to do.

I honestly don't believe that your web host allows the connections you need. The majority of hosts block all ports for security reasons.

Most host providers run MySQL only on localhost and don't allow external connections, do yourself a favor and get a VPS or something
