Hello,

I'm using Debian Linux with "MySQL 3.23.49". The database works well as I have a few websites running off of them as well as phpMyAdmin working nicely.

I'm checked, rechecked and double-checked twice my sql.ini configurational file. The required module and plugin has been loaded correctly and I have ensured that I can connect with those usernames with the MySQL console.

Here's the error I get:
L 01/16/2005 - 16:40:47: [MySQL] DB Connection failed(1045): Access denied for user: 'root@server1' (Using password: YES)
[AMXX] SQL error: can't connect: 'Access denied for user: 'root@server1' (Using password: YES)'

Of course, I've tried several other users.

Can anyone help? Is there acompatibility issue with this verion of MySQL?

have you tried localhost? 127.0.0.1? an IP address?

I have tried with 127.0.0.1 and in fact, the MySQL server IS respoinding as it's telling me that the authentification failed.

With localhost, I get a socket error.

Interesting, however I'm not using 4.1... My password are already in "old-style" (because the old versions didn't have new-style!).

Now that I'm home, I'll have a bit of time to try, but I really wish that databases in MySQL could work.
