and i still get pop-ups even when i'm not using the internet.
You've got something running in the background.

Run Hijackthis and post the output here. You have a trojan that has decided to make a house in your PC.

I had the same problem a while I ago. What I concluded:

Since the only program that computer really used was Limewire, the spyware came from there. Before I decided to reformat, I tried the spyware remover at http://free.grisoft.com after uninstalling Limewire and those problems didn't arise again.

The point of posting the log of HJT is so we can see what process might be causing the problem and go by process of elimination in order to see what needs to be removed.

So, once again. Post your HJT log.

Your welcome, they came to me in a dream, after I fell a sleep with my zipper down and a sticky monitor.

Am I the only one to think prevention is better than cure? A huge step towards secure computing (but often overlooked) is to run web-facing software without administrative privileges.

I have no problem admitting me and my girlfriend regularly watch pornography online but have never had any issues with malware.

Almost all internet users have no clue how to browse the web safely and it really annoys me.

Why would anyone do that? (I know you're joking, and I know you watch porn too, but read on )

People who watch porn should just stay at the "safe" sites. In another words, if anyone wants links, PM me. Porn isn't a bad thing as long as you keep your other relationships healthy. I've had my girlfriend for quite some time now, she knows I watch porn, and still we have a great relationship together physically and mentally. I am all in for porn when I am having a lonely night, but if the missus is here, I am all in for her.

But anyhows, with "safe" sites I mean sites that you know are safe to browse and haven't given you any crap. If you just google "porn" you'll end up with adware.

Edit: Before you format C: I suggest googling the symptoms and you should find out some geek forum. I've gotten rid of a couple bad viruses, and both made a file into the system32 folder and then seeded itself from there. A good program to get rid of unwanted files is FileShredder. It was made for Windows 95, and it works against viruses that are protected against Kíllbox. Other common tools are listed in some post earlier... Bedtime for me though, I just read this post and I write worse sentences all the time. G'nite.
